Our organization is involved in numerous charity projects...
Education
Our target population is orphans aged between 12 years and 17 years and widows aged 35 years to 60 years. School going children will have shopping while going back to school. Their school fees will be paid, the widows will be able to pay for their house rent and put food on the table. Due to the small businesses the widows will be able to dress well and provide for their primary school going children. There will be improved performance in school. Retention rates at school will be high. Widows and orphans will be committed to the work and word of God.
Our success will be, to see orphans and vulnerable children get the required education, character change and good values planted in the lives of these needy children. The widows will be able to manage their families well, eat well, sleep well, dress well, pay for their housing and they will be
kept busy working in shifts at the poultry project. The widows will be self-supporting, self-sufficient, self-propagating.
WELFARE
Youths and women are the backbone of a society. Youth and women’s participation in all aspects of society is very important at any time. Surprisingly as we see, our youth generation both male, female and our women face hard and tough times in our society. They are facing challenges that needs to be addressed though community based programs and projects that can create an avenue for uplifting their standards of living. Friends for change Initiative identifies that isolation of orphans and widows either intentionally or unintentionally can lead them to drug abuse, illegal and criminal actions, depression, migration, school dropout, broken homes, and so on, while youths and women are the potential group and actors for structuring future of our country Kenya and any other society in the world, they form a big percentage of our generation. We will be working closely with youths and women who resides in slums and urban settlements. Our project and programs are designed to provide gender awareness, leadership, team work, social, physical, spiritual, small scale business and start-ups, trainings directly benefitting youths and women through our projects, programs, trainings as we raise awareness about their active role in empowering themselves in the society.
We will adapt a cultural/ community based sensitive strategy, where all the activities will be planned and conducted in a way that the negative impacts will be avoided. Youths, which are both male, female and women will be the target and they will be reached during the course of the
project/ programs. Based on our team observations, our society is ready to empower itself and create a good living environment for all.
We empower widows with seed money to start small businesses so that they can be self -sustaining.
CAPACITY BUILDING
To train widows on entrepreneurship and basic hand skills for daily living, and to teach orphans to be responsible citizens
MENTORSHIP AND COACHING
We group orphans and widows in small groups and assign coaches to mentor them, encourage them and help them identify their potential.
