Friends for change
Initiative is a community-based organization, whose mission is to transform the
lives of orphans and their families (widows) focusing on alleviating poverty, and
fostering sustainable, long-term change in vulnerable communities.
Our Vision
We envision a world where orphans and widows are valued and given the chance to live with dignity, purpose, hope and being self-sustained.
What We Do
Our organization seeks to support both orphans and widows to be self-sustained through education, mentorship, training and financial empowerment for entrepreneurship.

Our Objectives
To equip the orphans and widows with knowledge on Micro-entrepreneurship.
To create awareness on sexual abuse, child labor, drug and alcohol abuse.
To create avenues for employment of the orphans and widowed women to combat and fight crime.
To transform lives and communities to be self-sustaining and self- reliance and self-propagating.
In order to achieve our objectives...
– We seek to support orphans financially through paying school fees and school supplies.
– We support widows with seed money to start small businesses so that they can be able to support their families to be self-sufficient, self-sustaining and self-reliant.
– We offer mentoring and counselling programs to the orphans and widows to help them lead meaningful lives.
Meet the Team...
JOHN KIDAKE BULIMO
Founder and Chairman of Friends for change initiative (FFCI). John holds a Diploma in Theology from Friends Theological college Kaimosi, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology from KAG University ( EAST campus) and a post graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from the African Nazarene University. John previously served as The clerk, Quaker peace Network East Africa for three years, the chairman, Love in the Name of Christ, Ngong road Zone for seven years, he is currently serving as a committee member at the Agricultural Society of Kenya/Nairobi International trade Fair, committee member at the NSDCC. John has traveled widely. While serving as the chairman. FFCI, he is in charge of partnership and strategic linkages.
KAREN NEKESA OKUNA
Karen Nekesa is the board secretary currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling and Psychology with a minor in Mental Health. She brings extensive experience in child focused ministry and organizational leadership. She serves as program manager in an organization supporting orphaned and vulnerable children, Executive Assistant at GCI – training kingdom leaders in Christian coaching- and lead the children’s ministry in her local church. Her passion lies in empowering the least in society, combining academic expertise with practical service to foster holistic growth and resilience.
JOHN AMUHAYA FWAMA
A committed elder who brings vast knowledge in social work and community development. Fwama is in charge of counselling, community mobilization and discipleship. He is also in charge of fellowships and prayer meetings.
EDITH MIJEGA KIDIYA
Edith Mijega Kidiya, serves as an Administrative Assistant in Friends for Change Initiative (FFCI). She has worked previously with Mawji Sennik & Company (CPA), Bulemezi Enterprises for 6 years and Friends World Committee for Consultation -Africa Section (FWCC-AS) as an Assistant Secretary for twelve years, responsible for organizing for Triennial Conferences, Workshops both Internationally and locally, public relations, and accounting. She brings to the board a variety of experience and knowledge in dealing with administrative issues and young adults.
SUSSY DINA LUKHWARO
Sussy Dina Lukhwaro is a dedicated board member, bringing expertise in child welfare and coaching in hands work. She is a graduate of Shamberere technical college in food production. She is humble and social. Married with five children.
ALICE MAKUNGU ODONDI
Alice Makungu Odondi is serving us our board treasurer. She is a qualified accountant and currently working as an office administrator with Friends Church Quakers Nairobi Yearly Meeting. Alice is married to Allan Asamba and are blessed with three children the eldest being in grade 10. Alice is passionate in serving people and the community at large at various levels and fields. Above all Alice is a born again Christian and a dedicated servant leader in church.
